iTunes Review

Best known as a Christian music producer, Brandon Bee steps out as a singer/songwriter on 2009’s thoroughly likeable This Is the Revolution. The Tacoma-based Bee displays a distinct case of Anglophilia in these tracks — you can hear traces of Beatles-like whimsy and contemporary Britpop atmospherics in his sound. Besides a fondness for layered guitar textures and beefy choruses, he also proves himself a subtle, poetically inclined lyricist here. Whether he’s dealing with spiritual matters in terms of warfare (the title tune), inner exploration (“The Quest for Riches”), or a struggle with the elements (“The Castaway”), Bee is vivid and convincing. His praise songs — especially “I Do Not Deserve” and “Your Holiness” — enhance their devotional messages with elegant strings and electronica washes. Tracks like “Holy Fire” and “The Empty of the Emptiness” crackle with melodic pop drive. Bee veers into esoteric folk-pop territory with the quirky “Even the Enemy Believes,” then ends on a high, sweet note with “Fly Like a Bird.”

Brandon Bee rocks!

In a world full of the cliche, this album goes where few dare to go! The vocals are amazing and the songwriting is epic.

Just the Beginning!

This album reflects the masterful ability Brandon has for music. If you have ever known Brandon, seen him live, or heard any of his other stuff you know this is just the beginning. There are many song writers, painters, and authors out there, but not many masters of their art. Brandon is a master who's originality on this album is expressed through the subtle. Simple yet complex. Enjoyable for first time listeners and for the well trained ear. Each time I listen to one of the songs I hear things I have never heard in the song before. Don't just buy this album, continue to check up and follow Brandon, the rest of his life will produce amazing music.

A true beauty for my ears to behold

When I listen to this album, I am compelled not simply to listen, but to admire and experience. Among the many things that may be attributed to this record, in my opinion, the best thing is an authentic heart. Many try and fail to produce work that really speaks to people, but this album is just real, and speaks to everyone. Brandon Bee has a voice like no other in the music world, and it is practicly the landmark characteristic of his debut album. As a musician and music lover, I suggest this album to any Beatles lover, Jon Foreman fan, Aqualung listener, and any appreciater of good music. Hey Brandon, love you bro!
