Coming from different directions

This London 3-piece can be quite a cacophony on stage. Saw them at SXSW 2006 in Austin, and immediately wanted to buy this EP, their debut and (currently) only album. Shingai is a frenetic front woman, but her voice is belyingly melodic. Dan is a tight guitar player - more clean than distorted, and Jamie a more-hair-than-man goliath on the drums. "Don't Give UP" best hints at their live-performace enthusiasm; "Monte Christo" best showcases some of their vocal play; "Signs" is groovingly playful; and "Burn" is a bit slow for my taste, but still a decent song.

So wonderful

I am obsessed with this band now. Unfortunely this Ep lacks Iwe and The Riffle song, and Scratch Your Name; which are their best works but this is still worth a listen. They are have this unique sound that I really cant describe, its rock, funk sung with a jazz flair that is totally mind blowing.

Great Sound, Great Band

"Three Moods of the Noisettes" may have came out before "What Time is it Mr Wolf..." (their debut), but I only recently stumbled upon this, and I must say I am very pleased! This tuneful portion is a nice little taste of a fantastically talented band. "Signs" and "Burn" aren't on their LP, so I was incredibly excited to hear them. "Signs" is so musically interesting, I love the sparsity in the instrumentation. "Burn" takes the band in a more jazzy direction. Noisettes are mind blowing. I love them.

While the pair already had a working relationship, in the spring of 2003 they began getting together to write songs, and their new project fell into place when they met drummer Jamie Morrison, whose manic approach matched Smith and Shoniwa's brash,...
