Thrills... thrills me.
Took me a few listens to fall in love with this album, seeing as I bought it while much more familiar with Andrew Bird's later work (without his Bowl Of Fire), but I can easily say that it has become one of my favorite albums as of late. I have definitely grown in appreciation for the style, which I was uncertain about at first. Give it time! It is amazing once you start to familiarize yourself with the songs/style. Definitely unique and well-done, great lyrics, moving songs, as to be expected from the genius of Andrew Bird. If you're just getting into him though and are not sure what album to buy, I would recommend Weather Systems above all. However, if you are into this style already, then get Thrills pronto, man. (I dance every time I hear #11!) Thanks for reading.

This guy is great on the violin and his voice is amazing. You won't be dissapointed. I can't wait to hear what he comes up with next!
Quirky, addictive, and really, really good.
I have been a devout Bird watcher for several years now, but have only recently delved into the world of the Bowl of Fire. Readers, I am a convert. Thrills delivers what its title implies. You can hear the joy and youthful enthusiasm these musicians have for their music in every single song. Although Bird's fiddling is unpolished, it's not from lack of talent or experience, but rather due to the down-home bluegrassy style. Bird evokes fledgling '20s jazz in several of the songs, while integrating the quirky prose he is well known for today. You can hear the seeds of greatness in this band, and it's a pity Bird ditched them so soon. I would gladly trade Armchair Apocrypha for Thrills any day of the week.
