iTunes Review
Recorded at Hansa Studio in Germany where David Bowie’s Heroes and U2’s Achtung Baby were also recorded, Tiger Suit is a technically thrilling album based on layers of sound and brilliant electronic manipulation. Tunstall, the Scottish folkie, is again completely vanquished, as on Drastic Fantastic, and a booming art-pop singer takes her place. “Uummannaq Song” jags in several different directions as the rhythm section’s cruise control goes delightfully awry. “Glamour Puss” is more cityscape glitz and champagne fizz. The whistling is perfect. “Difficulty” throws together some distorted and fuzzed-out guitars. “Fade Like a Shadow” goes for the quick pop hook. “Lost” turns into a space-folk tune with backing vocals bouncing between galaxies. “Golden Frames” tramps by with a cosmopolitan blues that sounds both desperate and seductive. “Come On, Get In” ramps up the tempo. “(Still A) Weirdo” and “The Entertainer” are the tracks where she sounds like she’s finally landed on earth for a breather before heading back into ozone.

Proof that a tiger can changer her stipes
Totally new sound, and yet, it keeps that essential something that is in every song by KT.
She wanted a new sound, and she came up with something that is completely wonderful.
In an industry where everything is about sounding like something else, KT has kept true to herself and made her best album to date. She has such a unique sound, and every song shows her passion for music.
Some fans may be suprised with her new sound, but if you give it a chance, you will love it as much as her other two albums.
Nice!!
I feel like KT's style has changed with all 3 of her albums. That being said, I think Tiger Suit is probably strongest. I love "Uummannaq Song" and "Madame Trudeaux", and "Lost" could be my all-time favorite song from any artist. Some songs sound more "KT" than others ("The Entertainer" reminded me of "Beauty of Uncertainty" from Drastic Fantastic a bit, but that's not a bad thing; "Glamour Puss" has a lot of potential as a single but it's not something you would expect from her. The only issue I have with the album is that it sometimes sounds like the cover looks; grey and monochromatic. I would have liked to see some more upbeat, cheerful sounding songs like "Fade Like a Shadow". Great album!
What happened to KT?
What I love about KT Tunstall is her quirky off-beat voice and songwriting. This album felt muddy and lost. The clarity of Eye to the Telescope felt gone. I'm all for a new sound and image but I think a smart album for KT would play more with her acoustic sensibilities and new instruments. By playing with the texture and adding all the electronic crap KT's voice is lost in a Katy Perry lady gaga background. With such a great voice KT doesn't need to be covered up at all! Cut the first few songs and make this a short EP starting with Push that Knot Away and Still a Weirdo and this wouldn't have been such a bad come back! Down to the cover art the album didn't feel innovative or fun. KT mixing popular sound with a singer/songwriter twist... Don't sell out KT. Still have hope!
