Tim McCarver Sings Selections from the Great American Songbook
I notice some pretentiousness on the part of the reviewers who rated this album as one star out of five. Perhaps they should share their credentials in jazz appreciation with us first.
The singer here stays faithful to the original tempo as the songwriter intended, and does not indulge in syncopation and adagio which is so common among other artists. The latter practice totally destroys the song and results in utter boredom on the part of the listener.
Oh, by the way, don't mix music and politics.
Really?
As if the torture of having to listen to McCarver's "wit" on every Fox broadcast was not bad enough, he has the audacity to do THIS to the great American songbook. McCarver is to these standards as George W. Bush was to the English language; the horror! the horror! If you like your Jazz neutered and dripping with mediocrity, this is right up your alley. Option B, you could go to any B-list restaurant and at least support some hack who probably needs the meal because he lacks other options. What an utter embarrassment.
Terrible
Five things you'll obtain from purchasing this album:
1 - no need for the huge bottle of ipecac you keep in the first aid kit.
2 - your iPod will now serve as an effective means towards repelling bears and other predatory wildlife.
3 - a newfound appreciation for q-tips and carbona.
4 - the knowledge that while Sara jessica Parker may look like a horse (didn't make this up, there's a website!), tim actually sounds like one, in labor.
5 - listening to "change partners" will make you have to change your pants.
Calling this jazz is like calling a McRib a steak sandwich.
