iTunes Review

Los Lobos are now a veteran rock act who speak with great authority. Their homeland of East L.A. has always been on the financial brink of bankruptcy and now, in 2010, the poverty they’ve experienced and witnessed over the years has hit the heartland. With that in mind, Los Lobos insist on retaining a person’s pride no matter what the situation and Tin Can Trust is the sound of a man getting by on meager means. David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas are still playing at their peak and whether singing in their native Spanish (“Yo Canto,” “Mujer Ingrata”) or in English, the emotive power is the same. It’s in the way the guitars drive through the street-walkin’ “Burn It Down” or offer a softer lyricism on “Jupiter or the Moon” or find the blues on “West L.A. Fadeaway.” Los Lobos turn out a funky, world-weary backbeat that hangs tough through difficult times. The harmonies add a sense of brotherhood on “On Main Street” and a forlorn look across the valley for “All My Bridges Burning.”

Masterful

Los Lobos is back, and at the top of their game. Tin Can Trust is ambitious, moving, and completely effective. David Hidalgo is one of the best musicians in America. He can play damn near anything, and has the voice of an angel.

Tin Can Trust ranks up there with the best of Los Lobos, and that makes it about as good as it gets. I place Will the Wolf Survive, Kiko, and this new disc as their finest.

Los Lobos Do It Again

Fantastic new collection of songs from Los Lobos, awesome to have them back!

Not their best but.......

Everyone is raving about Tin Can Trust and I suppose I can't fault fault fans for being so forgiving in light of the Disney musical travesty that the band laid on us last year.
This CD certainly has some high points, but it is following an old, and now tiring formula.
Because I bought the download I get no info on who the producer was, but I would suspect T Bone Burnett, which would explain the heavy handed bass and thunder--his act it is getting old making the Los Lobos CF sound like an extension of Jakob Dylans newest release.

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Los Lobos were one of America's most distinctive and original bands of the '80s. They may have had a hit with "La Bamba" in 1987, yet that cover barely scratches the surface of their talents. Los Lobos are eclectic in the best sense of the word. While they draw equally from rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music, their music never sounds forced or self-conscious. Instead, all of their influences become one graceful, gritty sound. From their very first...
