Album Review

A modern-day punk rock masterpiece, F.Y.P's Toilet Kids Bread, released in 1996, is the work of three immature pseudo-geeks from Torrance, CA. Screaming in a high-pitched, nasal voice which sounds like a clown being tortured, singer/guitarist/mastermind Todd Congelliere wrote some truly inspired punk anthems on this feisty, raging classic. "All Grown Up" is a fantastic dork singalong with lyrics like "I don't need your dough/I don't need your toys/I don't need no girls that go for macho boys" and which ends with the refrain "All grown up/And if you don't believe me/Just ask my mommy." Also, there's a sad tale about getting dumped, "New York City"; the anti-jock anthem "Sweetening Your Gas Tank"; some fiery, unbridled hardcore, "Drown a Metermaid"; and their awesome cover of Raw Power's "F**k Authority," titled "Raw Potore," which sounds like a guard dog flinging itself against a chain-link fence. The production is raw and utterly punk rock courtesy of the Dwarves' Blag Dahlia. Unsung punk rock legends, F.Y.P created their masterwork with Toilet Kids Bread, one of the most retarded and all-time greatest records ever.

I can't believe this album has been so forgotten. What a f*****g legend.

Totally Surprised

I can't believe I came across this album on itunes... that's awesome. This album was kind of that cd in your collection that only a few of your friends would recognize... no matter how much one would say they never listen to it, they still would fight you to keep it. In that way I think its a secret love affair. Great album, very unique sound that i haven't heard repeated.

Years Active: '90s, '00s

A fun, humorous, and vital punk rock band from Torrance, CA (a suburb of L.A.), F.Y.P (aka Five Year Plan) was the brainchild of Todd Congelliere, who wrote most of the songs and was the only constant member throughout the band's constantly rotating cast. F.Y.P released a couple of classics in Dance My Dunce and Toilet Kids Bread, though all their records are worthwhile. As far as impassioned, dysfunctional, militantly geek punk rock, Congelliere struck a chord with punks in the know. His buddy Hal...
