To Eva, With Love

I just had the pleasure; I mean the absolute delight in hearing "To Eva, With Love", Live at the Berkeley Jazzschool last night. I have been a fan of Eva Cassidy for many years, often listening with teary eyes at the beauty of Eva's interpretations and songbird styling. Amikaeyla & Trelawny Rose have created a masterful album in celebration of a woman they admired and loved.
I bought this album and have listened to it the entire morning...with smiles.
Amikaeyla delivers the maturity of arrangements and vocal diversity that only years of skilled performance and study can bring. Trelawny Rose has a sweet yet gutsy range that harmonizing well with their song choices.
To experience these two rising stars, you'll have to deeply listen to Amikaeyla singing "Autumn Leaves" and her collaboration with John Santos on "Prayer for Eva" ~ Simply divine. She sings with a intuitive knowing as to where to carefully place each note, not over shadowing the accompaniment, but enhancing their vibrant, subtle and grounding presence. Amikaeyla brings scat, blues, jazz, rock, folk styling to each song, her timing is impeccable. She will definitely be on the music scene for many years to come.
And what a great choice in having Wayne Wallace on Trombone, David Belove, John Santos, Simon Rochester, David Flores and Vince Mellone, all in alignment, all showcasing their music mastery.
I highly recommend this CD, buy it for yourself, buy it for a gift to share with family and friend.
