To the Bone - The Mighty Orq
I don't have this CD, but I've heard all of the songs during a live performance. This is one incredible power trio, and Orq does amazing things with a Fender; ditto with his bass player. His vocals are smooth as a good single malt. "Southern rock" doesn't really describe the band's style, but I guess it works if you have to pigeonhole. The band is just one more example of the outstanding Texas musicians one can hear in clubs, dancehalls and other small venues throughout the state - like Storyville, Doyle Bramhall II, Charlie Sexton. The Mighty Orq should be bigger than they currently are, if one measures popularity by talent. Buy Milk Money, too - listen to "Sweet Inbetween" if you need convincing.
