Grand Spiffy!!

Well Kila is definetly one to make you think at times. Gwerzy is a nice fun little number. Although when the ystart Rusty Nails they do mellow out, sorta makes me think of a slow moving dance that works itself up into a nice fast paced tumble across teh dance floor. In between is fast and slow alike. Dusty Wine Bottle was makin me think of russian gypsies for some reason. Double Knuckle Shuffle is definetly one of my favorite from this album, can't go wrong with teh pipes.

Obvious!

Its obvious these guys are great but why must I suffer! I buy their albums several times over. I buy one people love it ... steal it then I must buy again. Why are they not unbelievably famous. I guess that is the way of the world. I think Ronan is a genius!

Take it easy!

... which is a rough translation of the title of the album and the song. This was my introduction to the band and I've been a huge fan since. "Oh to Kiss Katie" is probably my favorite instrumental of the group -- it captures the joy of that "first kiss" as well as anything could. As for the vocal pieces, Ronan O Snodaigh not only puts his heart into his singing, but is a masterful bodhran player and wonderful poet. You don't need to know Irish to understand what he's trying to say: it comes across all the same (listen to Bi Ann/Leanfaidh Me). If you want to know, tho, check out the band's website at www.kila.ie and you find the lyrics in English and several other languages. If the energy of these songs grabs you, then make sure you see them live. You'll understand why they're one of the most popular bands in Ireland.

The schoolmates soon welcomed another Ó Snodaigh sibling, flutist Colm, and began busking throughout the Dublin area; a series of other members passed through Kila's ranks before the lineup finally solidified with the additions of fiddler Dee Armstrong, guitarist Lance Hogan, and his bassist brother, Brian.
