iTunes Review

With producer Frankmusik, who’s worked with Lady GaGa, handling the sound, the synth-pop duo Erasure goes deeper into electronics with a true sense of purpose. As a senior member of an electronic movement that didn’t exist before Vince Clarke’s days in Depeche Mode and Yaz, Erasure has a true challenge in keeping up with the scene it helped foment. Here Erasure performs admirably, grooving along with the fist-pumping grind of “I Lose Myself” like a good sport and sticking to its melodic instincts. “A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot” is a fierce stomp that glimmers and pounds with the excitement of the club floor. “What Will I Say When You’re Gone?” is a glimpse at the duo’s somber side and reminiscent of all that was glorious about its early days. “When I Start To (Break It All Down)” features singer Andy Bell at his most powerful. “Shot to the Heart” is a true exciter, reeling from active synth lines and a propulsive groove that moves things to another level.

BRILLIANT…SIMPLY BRILLIANT

Vince Clarke practically invented modern dance music.
Andy Bell's vocals are PURE JOY!
These 2 are true art, true talent and timeless.
They never cease to amaze.

Erasure Never Disappoint!

Once again, Erasure manages to impress upon the world their status as synth-pop legends. This album is another great entry in the duo's discography! I particularly love "Fill Us With Fire" and "A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot", but part of the fun of an Erasure album is how, over time, your favorites shift from the "single-worthy" songs to the album tracks. Can't wait to see how this album ages…and in the meantime I'm going to put this in heavy rotation!

Take it from a long time Erasure fan…

Save your money. I couldn't even listen to the whole album--a few songs were enough. Maybe this isn't a completely balanced review, but I shouldn't have to choke through mediocre songs before I can claim that I gave it a fair chance. I did, and I'm let down again. Goodbye, Erasure. I'll just have to listen to your classic stuff--when your music was good.

Biography

Formed: 1985 in London, England

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly eccentric Andy Bell — one of the first openly gay performers in pop music — as their focal...
