iTunes Review

While heads outside of Cali (and specifically the Bay), continue to sleep on him, Keak Da Sneak just keeps doing his thing, putting out a crazy amount of material — solo albums and collabo projects alike — further building on his local-legend rep, and consistently dropping dope music at a feverish pace. Blessed with an instantly recognizable, ultra-raspy voice, he sports a wily flow and charisma for days, with lyrics that are clever, funny, and always original. Unlike some of his peers, he doesn't dwell on drug-dealer pride or cliché thuggisms, instead focusing on rocking an old-school Nova, and big-upping his home turf. Produced entirely by DJ Fresh, Sneakacydal Returns flaunts unique beats with plenty of East Oakland slap, and is easily one of his best albums yet. "You Can Ask Around" (with Jay Jonah and Shady Nate), "Maxi Pads," and "Messages from the Stars" are especially funky.
