Not as good as Tally Ho! and Musipal

I'm excited for a new Wagon Christ release, but I have to say I am slightly disappointed with this album. About the same level of disappointment as Sorry I Make You Lush.

Not that these two albums are bad, but they don't live up to either Tally Ho! or Muspial. Those two albums were sheer brilliance, drum and bass at their best, and I don't think he will be able to live up to them. Sorry I Make You Lush and Toomorrow have strayed somewhat from the bouncy, elaborate beats and sunk into the realm of repetative samples, plain and boring beats, and acid knob twiddles.

It doesn't feel like there's any imagination anymore, and his creativity has obviously been stifled by something. Maybe he spent too much time in the Luke Vibert acid haze and forgot what being Wagon Christ was all about.

After 7 long years

I was sitting at my desk today wondering if a new Wagon Christ album was ever going to come out. Then, to my surprise I checked the store like I do every month, AND THERE WAS ONE!!!! This album does not disappoint. It is good all the way through and contains the signature Wagon Christ sound, while innovating a fresh sound as well.

I would also like to call out another reviewer though...Corey. He talks about how this album does not live up to Tally Ho and Musipal and how they were drum and bass. First off, Musipal was NOT drum and bass at all, it is a down tempo album through and through. It makes me wonder if this person is a fan at all of the artist or of just an album. I for one can't understand why people keep wanting the SAME album over and over. I am so glad Luke tries something different on each album. Tally Ho! was drum and bass, Musipal was downtempo, Sorry I Make You Lush was experimental, and this newest one is just plain fun. Seriously if you want someone that puts out the same album every other year with a different name on it, you are listening to the wrong artist. DJ Shadow gets the same hate for not being a clone with every new album.

All in all, this album is a great trip.

Vibert!!

As always funky, hilarious, and awesomely produced. The itunes bonus is just as good as the bleep.com bonus.

Biography

Born: Cornwall, England

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Luke Vibert is one of a new breed of European club music experimentalists whose work spans several genres simultaneously, and is one of a very few of that set to make any headway with U.S. audiences. A native of Cornwall, Vibert's work has been compared with other West Country bedroom denizens like Aphex Twin and µ-Ziq, although his output over the past few years has been far more eclectic than that connection would seem to imply. Beginning with tweaky post-techno and moving through ambient and experimental...
