Meet Mariah: Queen of the REMIX
Mariah Carey is undisputably the queen of the remix. It all started with a little diddy known as the FANTASY Remix with ODB, and has continued steadily over the past 12 years. Mariah single-handedly popularized the "pop singer featuring the rapper" standard that is so popular it runs rampant today, and with this new remix, she doesn't disappoint. Touch My Body is undeniably her best and most successful lead single since 1999's Heartbreaker, and the remix is just as hot as the original. the beats are harder, darker, more sparse. The Voice is well maintained. The rap at the beginning is so seamless it seems like its always been apart of the song. The take down in the middle with Dream's twist is pure bliss. The end turns up the heat and creates a trance, almost timbaland-like, feel. If Touch My Body was the Entree, then the Remix is the dessert. Mariah is still the queen of the remix, and artists today would KILL for their original songs to be as hot as Mariah's remixes. Every female powerhouse out there now like Christina and Beyonce, even the not-so-powerhouses like Britney, Ciara, and even Madonna, who is now copy-catting, owes their gratitude to Mariah for the singer/rapper duet. GET. THIS. REMIX.
Mariah's Future 18th #1 Hit!
It's no doubt that next week Mariah will make music history when she surpasses Elvis with the 2nd most #1's on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. It's such a great time to be a Mariah fan as we all wait in anticipation for the release of E=MC2 on April 15th.
