His Best Recording
I was a little leery when I first heard the song list for the album. I was also disappointed the original live recording was scrapped for what became the Tower Sessions. That said, the end result of this live recording without an audience is nothing less than stunning. Aynsley has never sung or played better and his bandmates performance is stellar. I've heard so much about his rendition of "Purple Rain" and am glad the song has finally been captured on disc. This song alone would normally be worth the price of admission, but actually all the songs on the album are exceptional. For one thing the songs don't have an over-rehearsed perfection, but rather an earthiness that can only come from a live recording. This album would be a good introduction to new listeners.
