Good, but reminiscent of his other works
First off, I love HGW. I would give this 5 stars but it sounds a little too much like some of his earlier works like Gone Baby Gone (which I love), but I think this one lacks a little originality and also lacks some of the really powerful and memorable themes that Gone Baby Gone contained. But it should be noted that I haven't seen the movie yet, and that could change my opinion. Sometimes I end up liking scores more after I hear them in context. Still one of my fav composers along with Josh Kramer (his "Beginnings" album is very moving), Nico Muhly ("The Reader" - jaw-dropping), and Alexandre Desplat (need I say more?)
A great atmospheric score.
I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know how this works within the context of the film but I can already tell that the atmosphere of the movie is going to be tense and thick. The score has an emotional pulse to it that is a pleasure to listen to. Bank Attack and Nuns with Guns are probably my favorite pieces. I really can't wait to see the movie now.
Band of brothers
Ripped off the band of brothers main title...
