Betsy McGovern makes me loves my favorite songs again... and the kids love her too!
We heard Betsy McGovern with her band, the Poor Clares, a few years ago at Jazz Fest and were blown away by the experience. I'm a big fan of Celtic music in general, but Betsy McGovern's renditions are something else. She has this clear and powerful voice that gives a totally new vibrant edge to these songs, both the new ones and the traditional ones I thought I'd heard too many times to love again. The arrangements are contemporary (even edgy!), and the rhythms on the upbeat ones get my kids dancing. It's one of the few CDs in our car that both my children and I can agree on actually! One of the best music purchases I've ever made.
