Album Review

Composer Steve Jablonsky's second stab at setting music to images of military and science fiction carnage echoes the bold, overtly serious tone of its predecessor and remains the one bright spot in the notoriously one-dimensional Transformers series. Like his boss Hans Zimmer, whose studio Remote Control Productions he has spent considerable time in honing his skills, Jablonsky is a highly skilled sculptor of musical bravado. His deft blending of the orchestral and the electronic (as well as the punishingly percussive) yields fruit that is size appropriate to the film's giant alien robots/waste management vehicles.

A Blast of Heart and Soul

It's so good to hear that the "Arrival to Earth" theme from the first film is given a somewhat more prominent place within this installment. Jablonsky definitely builds upon the first two films, however he adds a much darker tone with this one. Piano is also featured prominently throughout as Linkin Park's Iridescent is mixed with Bumblebee's theme from the first film (which is actually well done, making up for the sad excuse of New Divide). This soundtrack has just has much, if not more, heart and soul as the first feature, yet Jablonsky still delivers the Zimmer-esque epicness you would come to expect from this franchise (Zimmer's Inception score has definitely influenced Jablonsky in this). It's a sure winner, worth the price, and probably one of the best scores of the year!

bout time

finally the score is online. It's pretty decent. Can't believe its $16.00 though. Little pricey for a score. And yes the movie was good.

Best score I have heard this year.

I did not expect this to be my favorite score of the trilogy. But I think it is. It has all of the emotion that I loved in the first movie, and it also takes those original themes to a new level. I love love LOVE the new treatment of "Arrival To Earth"!! That's track 8. But what I'm blown away by most is all of the new material. Really exciting, emotional, heart pounding new songs. Some of my favorites are Battle (AMAZING, this one will get you pumped up), It's Our Fight (plays during the last part of the movie, both emotional and exciting), The Fight Will Be Your Own (this one makes me both sad and happy somehow), Sentinel Prime (another new song, for Sentinel! very moving). I love the dark evil music too, like track 6 We Were Gods Once. You can feel the Decepticons coming to destroy the world. Awesome soundtrack, thank you Michael Bay and Steve Jablonsky for creating my favorite score of 2011.
