Album Review
It seems as though more and more, one-dimensional metal is becoming a thing of the past. Case in point: a band such as War from a Harlots Mouth. Just when you're ready to label the group a prog/grindcore act, abrupt detours into hardcore and even jazz territory quickly show that the group refuses to be pigeonholed to a single metallic style, as evidenced throughout their full-length debut, 2007's Transmetropolitan. And as with many newer metal acts, the group's choice of song titles appear to be equal parts stream of consciousness and wise ass humor, as evidenced by "Heeey...Let's Start a Band," "If You Want to Blame Us for Something Wrong, Please Abuse This Song!," and "How To Disconnect from Your Social Surrounding in Half an Hour." And musically, it's as unpredictable and all over the map as their choices for song titles. How the heck these chaps will be able to pull off these demanding little ditties live will certainly be worth the price of a ticket when the group rolls into your town.
Customer Reviews
An actual review of the CD...
If anyone has heard WFAHM they know what to expect. Well constructed songs, Random Jazz moments, insane breakdowns, and great vocals. This album is everything and more. Since their split with the amazing Molotov Solution, War From A Harlots Mouth has been hard at work perfecting their sound. This album showcases what they are known for and how much they have improved on it. The breakdowns are much heavier (If You Want To Blame Us For Something), the technicality is out of this world. Everything about it is stupendous. Not to mention the Hip Hop break, and coming from a German Tech-Grind band, it is super. There are some flaws, it can sometimes feel repetitive and can get stale if listened to non-stop. However. All in all this is an album worth the money. Anyone who is into bands like Into The Moat, Despised Icon, Time Has Come, and See You Next Tuesday should get this and try it.
into the moat?
this is an awsome album but this is like a copy of into the moat,( all u fans of itm u no what im talkin about the gunshots and the jazz breakdowns) but this is a good cd
Even better live!
contradictory to the *cough*... itunes review, these guys CAN perform live, and do a fantastic show. Nico (vocals) gets everyone really into it (meaning i screamed into his mike with him) and all the guys are super chill. and the album is great, the variety of styles is really awesome.
