iTunes Review
The years leading up to Trauma saw DJ Quik shouldering a mountain of stress. He was grieving the murders of two lifelong friends (personal assistant Darryl Reed and musical protégé Mausberg), and juggling two lawsuits. In the meantime, the rapidly-aging Quik struggled to stay relevant in a game that regularly discards its veterans. All this turmoil culminated in Trauma, a tightly-wound statement of purpose that provides Quik a vehicle through which to vent his frustrations and re-establish his reputation as a master producer. Party songs like “Get Up” and “Indiscretions In the Back of A Limo” give way to currents of anger and anxiety. As Quik raps in “Get Up”: “I'm dope, I'm bomb, I'm wounded and I'm so feeble / Can't believe the bulls*** I'm gettin’ from these people.” Despite his woes, an all-star guest list (The Game, Ludacris, B-Real, T.I., Wyclef Jean, Chingy, and Nate Dogg) proves that Quik’s name still carries weight among rap’s elite. Apart from the heavyweight support and emotional verses, Quik’s latest batch of beats speaks for itself. Precisely orchestrated and insidiously funky, “Fandango,” “Get Down,” and “Black Mercedes” are beats designed to cut glass.
Customer Reviews
Dj Quik is always perfection
Dj quik is not an ordinary type of artist in Hip-Hop. I would argue that his skill as a producer is far more complex than Dr. Dre. This Album is spectacular he utilizes twelve bars like a surgeon. I am not saying that you might like this I promise no matter what coast your down with, it wont even matter because this album was a high quality production and comes out flawess every track is excellen except the one with wyclef jean because of his anoying how, but that is Wyclefs fault not quiks. Please do yourself a big favor and pruchase this. If I am wrong feel free to clown on my opnions but give quik a listen!!
Another Reason Why The West Is The Best
Buckets upon buckets of props for DJ Quik and Trauma! The album is ridiculous! I was broke on the release day and was searching all over the internet for some clips of the album, but I couldn't find anything. I knew it was going to be good, but I had to wait for that next pay check. When I finally got it a few days later... off the chains. The production is clean, his collaborations are legit, and his lyric execution (as always) is on point. If you enjoy good music and want to hear how a producer sounds at the top of his game, BUY THIS ALBUM. You will not be dissapointed. SUPPORT GREAT ARTISTS AND THEIR MUSIC! Let them know we appreciate the work.
Quik & The West Coast Is Bac
DJ Quik taking time off definitely benefits him and his album Truma is incredible, the best work 2 date. Every song is great except for 1 or 2. Lyrics are clear and the beats are hittin', kinda reminds me of '95, '96 flavor. DJ Quik is a true musician and his creativity continues 2 grow. DJ Quik is here 2 stay, and the West Coast continues 2 rise!
