the new hymns record is kinda magical... i love it. :)
Soundtrack to summer
Saw these guys in Charlotte and was blown away by their sound, their energy, and the rapport between Harding and Roberts. The rhythm section is solid and the sound is both fresh and inventive. Instantly hummable, but surprisingly complex in all the right places, this CD is strong from beginning to end. There is an easy groove woven through these tracks that makes them the perfect accompaniment to a cold beverage and a porch full of friends on a southern summer night.
Couldn't Be Better...
Hymns are from Brooklyn, but they don't sound like urban hipsters. Their musical roots more likely go back to "Southern Accents" Tom Petty and the better moments of the Grateful Dead. I caught the Hymns live at SXSW and they are every bit as good live as they are on the album. A great new band...
