A unique, genre-busting new talent
The particular timbre of Trevor's voice is unique, and the playfulness and joy which infuses it makes for a very enjoyable ride. His lyrics are spiritual and playful poetry which honors the audience and never condescends. This young man is clearly a very old soul, and his career is taking off in a big way. I highly recommend his albums to anyone who yearns for the return of music imbued with meaning and passion. Catch him live if you can, but buy this album right now. PS: An additional plus on this album is the nearly telepathic playing between Trevor and his friend, Leon Mobley on djimbe (Leon is percussionist for Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals) The hidden track is a treat too.
Trevor Hall: The Real Deal
I saw him perform in Denver @ the Paramount Theatre with Matisyahu as well and this kid is the real deal. His voice is a smokey, velvet very mature one for being 19 and let me tell you he has talent is through the roof. Expect him to blow up soon. Here is how I would describe his sound: Soulful, reggae tinged, deeply spiritual in a mystical non-religious way, acoustic sound that will make you feel like he is performing just for you. So basically what I am saying is get his music!!!
Outstanding Performer
Trevor is one of the best artist I have seen play live in a long time. He graced Honolulu in Jan 2006 and his performance was nothing less than astonishing. Trevor shows extreme emotion while performing that is extended through is music; setting him apart from many other live albums.
