Dixie Chicks make this album
With most of these tracks being sub-par to the originals, it's not a must-have. The must-have track from this collection is the Dixie Chicks' pitch-perfect, emotional and powerful rendition of "Stand By Your Man." Hearing the harmonies and Natalie Maines' sharp vocals throughout the track confirms why they are the biggest selling country group in history. I would just purchase this track, and save the rest of your money.
A Tribute To Tradition - A Fitting Title For This Album
A wonderful collection of traditional/classic country songs interpreted by many of today's new country stars. This album is constantly in rotation on my IPOD. The standout track on this album for me is Collin Raye's version of Hank Williams' "Cold Cold Heart". Please take special note of Alison Krauss' version of The Brown's classic, "The Three Bells". And Martina McBride definitely makes the Tammy Wynette classic, " 'Til I Can Make It On My Own" her own song. A great way to introduce newcomers to Country Music to the classics. P.S. - Itunes, Why did you classify this album as Rock?
Damn Good
Solid selection of tunes and performances. But why on earth is the genre rock? Some minion in the apple corps ain't paying attention.
