This is it! The real deal! Salsa de verdad!
Very few releases are worth your hard earned cash. This is one of them! Puerto Rican band leader Mario Ortiz put together one of the most swinging Salsa bands of the 80's. Now his son and some of Puerto Rico's most prominent singers and musicians come together to pay tribute. This is foot stomping Salsa from start to finish. Check out Para los Bravos with Andy Montanez. This is what Mario Ortiz was all about. Big band swing! This is the best Salsa release of the year! Get it!
Best value salsa CD in years!
Wow! I have never written a review but I had to on this one. This has to be the best single salsa cd I have purchased in years. I would recommend you buy the whole album which at $8.99 is an INCREDIBLE VALUE. The songs are performed by an all-star cast( both instrumentally and vocally) with a contemporary big band sound that is swinging from beginning to end. This is a tribute to a great former trumpet player and bandleader, Mario Ortiz, by his son Mario Ortiz, Jr, himself a trumpet player. And what a tribute it is! As for individual songs( and there are so many great ones), you cannot miss Se Acabo el Bembe(Ismael Miranda), Chinita(Gilberto Santa Rosa), Rumberito(Bobby Cruz & Roberto Roena), Para Los Bravos( Andy Montanez with the others), and El Soplo(Tito Allen). But the truth is that the whole album is just amazing, bacause A quitarse, Yare yare, Que bonito es Puerto Rico( a must buy if you are Puerto Rican) and the salsaton Mambo Infierno are great too.
