Album Review
In the late '80s and early '90s, MCA Records wasn't as commercially successful in rock as it was in urban contemporary, and sought to remedy that by signing an abundance of hard rock bands. While a few had potential (including Sweet FA), most were formula-driven and painfully generic. One embarrassing example is Paramus, NJ's Trixter, whose songs were along the lines of another Jersey band, Bon Jovi, but not nearly as memorable. The fact that this self-titled debut did enjoy some airplay on album-rock stations certainly wasn't due to originality. Forgettable and pedestrian, songs like "Bad Girl," "Play Rough" and "One in a Million" exemplify MCA's formulaic, assembly-line approach to "corporate" hard rock at the dawn of the '90s. With the rise of alternative rock a few years later, Trixter would be all but forgotten.

Great Album, Insulting Review
This is truely a great album the highlights are "Heart of Steel", "Give It to Me Good", "Always a Victim", "You'll Never See Me Cryin' " and "On and On". It seems however that whatever idiot reviewed this abum broke one of itones own tips for writing a good review. I don't think it "praises music on its own terms". Trixter really doesn't deserve that kind of a review and its truely insulting to all of Trixter's fans. I'd like to see itones listen the fans and replace it.
Late in the Game
Trixter was one of those bands that came along a little to late in the 80's Hair Band movement. While they had that Hair Band sound, the guys were already moving towards the 90's rock look...a little more organic. Yes, they had the hair, but they dressed less flashy - jeans, flanel shirts with the arms ripped out, etc. Not so much spandex and leather, or glitz and glamour. As for the songs: THEY ROCK! If you call yourself an 80's Hair Band Fan, but don't own this record, DOWNLOAD IT AT ONCE! Awesome vocals - great raw, rootsy rock! You'll love it!
this band is GREAT!!!!
Coming from New Jersey not far from the Garden State Plaza I used to sneak into a great club called Mother's that's not around anymore just to see them. They were great then and now you can see some of them play in local bars bars and they are still Awesone!!! Listening to their stuff makes me remember when I was a tennager,(I'm 30 now) and had some of the best times of my life, even my daughter who's 7 LOVES THEM!!!
