iTunes Review

By opening with a tune titled “The Inevitable Relapse,” Filter gives a sly hint that their 2010 release is an unapologetic throwback to their post-grunge/industrial-rock hybrid of the ‘90s that yielded “Hey Man, Nice Shot.” Even the album art is a bit reminiscent of the dated design on 1995’s Short Bus. With gargantuan walls of guitar distortion, sinister melodies and dirty dance-floor rhythms that Trent Reznor would dig, “Drug Boy” would sound right at home on a mix alongside Powerman 5000, Alice In Chains and early Marilyn Manson. A departure from the politically themed fourth album Anthems for the Damned, singer Richard Patrick even peppers his lyrical content with topical subjects of the mid ‘90s — both “The Inevitable Relapse” and the more melodic “Drug Boy” touch on substance abuse, while the sultry “Absentee Father” continues the latchkey-kid blues started by Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy” in 1991. Bonus tracks on the Deluxe Edition include a Clayton Worbeck mix of “The Inevitable Relapse” that recalls Front 242 as well as flannel-flying ballad “Drowning” and three other archaic tunes perfect for dusting off those Dr. Martens.

Incredible - a true return to form

Filter comes back with a truly tremendous album. Could be their greatest yet and definitely the best rock album of the year.
I love this record. The bonus material is great as well... This record rules

One of, if not there best

Its great to hear a band that didn't sell out and go mainstream like everyone else these days. Way to take it back to days of the Short Bus and not fading out and going soft like all these other bands. Way to stay true.

Its alright IF....you like that recycled sound..

Go through and preview each one is my suggestion, I only found 3 worth bothering with and one of them they made sure was "album only" so I didn't get that one b/c thas how bad the rest of the album was. RIP Filter.

Richard Patrick, an early touring member of Nine Inch Nails, met Brian Liesegang and the two began to record together under the name Filter. Their debut album, Short Bus, released on Reprise in 1995, became a surprise hit thanks to the single "Hey Man, Nice Shot"; by the end of the summer, the album had reached gold status. Liesegang departed in 1997 over creative differences, but Patrick retained the Filter name for 1999's Title of Record, which eventually went platinum and spawned...
