Stunning
I don't generally fall in love with an album the first time I hear it; most of the time I have to listen to it several times and let it "grow" on me. Not so with this one. From the first time I heard "Lucky Clover Coin," I was in love. Nor was I disappointed as I listened through the rest of the tracks. This album is every bit as good, in my opinion, as "Makers" and "Suicide Medicine" were. You get the same raw emotional feel as Rocky's previous work, and the music is just aesthetically beautiful. There is such attention to detail, also -- in "Red River," for example, with the lyrics "like a crippled animal running on broken legs..." the guitar begins to flutter, creating the acoustic image to supplement the lyrics; the song "Sparklers" features similar acoustic imagery, as the guitar "twinkles" during the intro and throughout the song, and after the lyrics "I'm a pendulum that swings," you hear the subtle tick-tock of the beat in the background. Fabulous details.
For those of you that already know Rocky, you won't be disappointed. And those of you who are new to him, it's definitely worth checking out.
Rocky does it again!
This is an excellent album. You could definitely feel Rocky's emotion in each song. The stand out tracks for me are Fragments, Eyes Like Static, Red River, and Sparklers.

been listening to rocky for a long time, and this album is amazing. very emotional, brilliantly written and the stripped down songs he performs are pure and strong.
