L.E.F. 2

Plenty of female vocal driven tracks to satisfy the mainstream clubber ("Black Velvet", "We Belong", "Made of Love", "Feel You"). Electro enfused anthems for the massives ("Radio Crash", "Brain Box" [aka "The Race"]). A hint of euphria for the trance lovers such as myself ("Gabriella's Sky"). Overall excellent album. One of the few DJs who live sets are as amazing as his productions. Seeing him spin countless times is a joy and getting the chance to meet him last year makes him my favourite solo DJ.

Ignore all reviews

Except this one of course. Reviews are kind of a joke, no? One reviewer says this album doesn't measure up to the phenomenal LEF. Another reviewer says this album is the comeback of Ferry Corsten after the piece of crap LEF. Who to believe? No one. If you really need other people's feelings on an album to determine how YOU will feel about the album, then here, I'll tell you how to feel. You will like this album when you buy it, so buy it. And if it turns out I'm wrong, well then, you've just helped the economy and funded the work of a really cool guy, whether you like it or not. I like it a lot, but then again I like lots of things. I will agree with a previous reviewer that you shouldn't base your decision off of 30-second previews. But hopefully you realize this on your own, since when can on average 8% of a song represent the other 92%? Go to ferrycorsten.com and listen to perhaps about 1 to 2 minutes of a few songs. Or better yet, find a friend who already has it and listen before you buy. You know, the old-fashioned way.

Very solid album

Overall, I think this album is a bit of a falloff from his two previous releases, but you have to remember that those albums were phenomenal. Twice In a Blue Moon is a really good album, and established Ferry fans will not be disappointed. For me, Brain Box is the best song on the album. It rivals some of Ferry's best like L.E.F. or Punk. The titular song Twice in a Blue Moon and Radio Crush are also really good. I am partial to non-vocal electronica, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt if you really like vocal mixes.

Otherwise known as System F, in addition to using nearly 30 other (less prolific) pseudonyms, Rotterdam, Netherlands-born DJ and producer Ferry Corsten rose to prominence in the late '90s as one of Europe's top trance jocks, highlighted by an anthem-filled appearance on Ministry of Sound's first Trance Nation album. Throughout the first decade of the 2000s, Corsten issued mix albums at a roughly two-discs-per-year clip, including releases for Moonshine, Thrive, Ultra, and Gatecrasher. In 2005, he...
