iTunes Review

Robin Trower had shown flashes of his fretwork brilliance on Procol Harum's Home and in the subtle shadings of the group's other work. But striking out on his own, he wholeheartedly jumped into the blues-rock spectrum, devising a signature sound that reflected a debt to Jimi Hendrix. "Daydream" sounds like a great ballad Hendrix could've written had he lived. Bridge of Sighs is the best-known and most praised of Trower's solo work, but that's unfair to this debut, which features just as many satisfying performances from his power trio. Singer James Dewar is the archetypal hard rock singer, able to hit notes with an ominous authority. Drummer Reg Isidore tastefully changes things up without drawing attention to his flourishes. "I Can't Wait Much Longer," "Hannah," and "I Can't Stand It" display emotionally honest songwriting and instrumental workouts that made Trower and Co. a gold standard for future hard rock bands to aspire to.

Hannah!

Robin was cementing his solo efforts by the time this album came out.

Grab those flight-deck headphones and enjoy the "glory days" of the early 70s electric guitar progression and prominence!

Twice Removed from Yesterday

Any album with Jimmy Dewar singing is a treasure. The sonic world lost a great one when he passed. Jimmy's bass & the solid time of Reg Isidore's skin work forms a steady bottom to Robin's explorative solos. Reg unfortunately passed away in 2009. Thankfully, Robin is still out there touring and vocalist Davey Pattison is a brilliant choice to cover.

The sensation of space generated by this record is almost disconcerting. A fantastic prelude to an enduring career of rock solid blues rock!

True kingsmanship

This album altered my minds ear. What a tremendous contribution it is. No one can touch the shear genius behind each track. NO ONE. Top 5 album of all time period. Buy it; now.

Throughout his long and winding solo career, guitarist Robin Trower has had to endure countless comparisons to Jimi Hendrix, due to his uncanny ability to channel Hendrix's bluesy/psychedelic, Fender Strat-fueled playing style. Born on March 9, 1945, in Catford, England, Trower spent the early '60s playing guitar in various London based outfits; the most successful one being the R&B group the Paramounts, who specialized mostly in covers, but managed to issue several singles between 1963 and 1965....
