New Music from Sarah!

Since this is essentially the first original offering (minus "Wintersong") since 2003's Afterglow, any Sarah fan will be thrilled to add this to their collection. This is a truly somber song about lost love, and one that will raise curiosity about Sarah's marital staus, about which the rumor mill is already aflutter. That aside, this is a nice tune, though it definitely underscores her continued direction toward AC-radio friendly material. Old school Sarah fans will lament the edge once known in the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy era, yet will find Solace (pun intended) in keeping in mind that this is essentially a B-side to her forthcoming greatest hits collection, and not a lead-off single from a new album of material. We shall wait to see what she delivers in that respect. If the storyline of this song is any indication, she'll have "Plenty" to share with us (again, pun intended). Cheers, kids...enjoy the latest from our girl. :o)

Love Her

While surfacing is my favorite sarah season, I like where she's heading with this new single. I prefer the soul searching mystical figure of the late 1990s better than the realistic mom type coming out with afterglow. (I buy everything she puts out) but she could use some more mystery. Maybe she could build some.

This is Not an Honest Review

I think Sarah McLachlan is the greatest female musician EVER. So I can't write one. But if she's reaching back to her roots, its a pretty good thing for fans who like her earlier work. But I hope she keeps experimenting since part of her success was her utterly original innovations.
