Album Review
Hip-O's Ultimate Collection may not have the original hit recording of "That's the Way God Planned It," due to licensing restrictions (it was recorded for the Beatles ill-fated label, Apple), but that's about the only thing missing from this near-definitive single-disc set. Over the course of 20 tracks, the collection chronicles every one of Preston's hits, from the funky "Outa-Space," "Slaughter," and "Will It Go Round in Circles" to the smooth, quiet storm soul of his duets with Syreeta ("With You I'm Born Again," "Go for It," "One More Time for Love"). Since it's quite a transition between the two extremes, fans of either side of the spectrum may not enjoy everything here, but it's nevertheless a nearly flawless collection, providing an accurate portrait of Preston's career. It is true that the lesser-known hits aren't as compelling as the smash singles, but this is still an entertaining collection, regardless.

This album rocks. It has all of Prestons big jams. No one rocks the keys like he did back in the day. This album will take you round in circles. It will be hard to get past that first track without wanting to keep hearing it again. If you like Billy Preston, get this, you can't go wrong.

Billy Preston was an amazing artist. On the "Blackbird" cover, he chose the exact sound that was perfect for the song. This is an amazing collection of all his amazing hits. Rest in peace Billy Preston, The 5th Beatle.
Great collection of spanning career
This album is a wonderful documentary of Billy Preston's career in music, spanning from his funk singles, to gospel and collaborations with Syreeta. Its much better than the 20th Century Master "greatest hits" since that only has 11 songs and this has 20! Great r&b, gospel and funk pianist, singer, keyboardist.
