Masterpiece
Totally seductive and intoxicating is not even enough to say about it. Its built on the masterpiece that was "Some Kind of Strange". Continuing the journey and bringing it to new places. Dean from Curve and Karin and Statik of Collide have out done themselves again... Its strong goth and mysterious (music to f*** to)
Beautiful Noise Machine Indeed!
Good studio production, top-notch musicians, and edgy, smart lyrics make for wonderfully delicious concoction here. Add kaRIN's voice, which can convey spirituality and raw (almost sexual) energy in the same breath, and I found a new "must-have". My favorites (at the moment) are 'Shiver X' and 'Beautiful Noise Machine'. 'Shiver X' glides with sensuous, earthy vocals and persistent, sinister, guitar driven counter-theme. This is night-driving-alone music, or with a small group of close friends after-hours. Or maybe a 3rd date. 'Beautiful Noise Machine' is a gem. Here, kaRIN's voice takes the lead in the transition from a playfully soft and pretty melody, into a hard-driving techno/industrial refrain. Wickedly addictive this is. Must ... keep ... finger ... off ... replay ... We then have 'Blacker Than Blue'. Listen to this sometime a little loud, on a nice, open sound system, using the native sound mixing, in a living room size area or your basement. Then dance till you pass out. Collide and Dean Garcia of Curve each bring a bit of their own uniqueness, but this recording should be evaluated on it's own, I think. It's really not like either, except maybe in small bits and pieces here and there. It's new and original in sound and concept. Listen for yourself
Above Average Result
Too many tracks are sensual, dreamy, and seductive. Yes, that is indeed Karin's gift, however, I would have liked a more varied mood and beat on other tracks. Too many sounded the same or too similar...almost like the album has only 3 or 4 tracks. Looking forward to Collide's next album!
