Best Pop Debut Album of 2008

Disney's Hollywood Records has a real star on their hands with this honest, self-revealing and uber-talented Marie Digby. Unlike other pop-phenoms, Marie's debut album doesn't contain one killer hit with a rest of filler material. Instead, Marie Digby's Unfold is flush full of exceptionally good songs, all wrapped in a layer of revealing emotional honesty. Marie has a great voice and her accoustical versions of her songs are the real treats here. Much of her songs would feel right at home on Grey's Anatomy. In this category "Spell" is the standout but "Miss Invisible" is clearly her most beautiful song. On the more upbeat side, "Better Off Alone", "Traffic" and " Say It Again" are all excellent pop songs. While "Girlfriend", "Fool" and the title track "Unfold" have a more rock-like sound to them. There simply isn't a bad song on the whole album -- a real accomplishment for a debut record. If you only buy one pop-album per year, this is it for 2008.

Brilliant pop-rock album.

Marie took me by surprise..I wasin't sure I would like this album, but I LOVE it. It's full of light-hearted pop-rock songs like "Say it Again" and "Stupid for You", as well as some beautiful folksy piano ballads, such as "Miss Invisible". The albums standout tracks include "Better Off Alone" (my favorite), "Fool", "Beauty In Walking Away", and the title track. The acoustic cover of "Umbrella" is a nice edition, and Marie puts a great spin on the hit song. And for only $6.99, this is a fabulous deal. Highly recommended.

Fool- 4.5/5 Cool opening, she even kind of sounds like Michell Brach Better Off Alone- 5/5 Another beautifuly written song and the beat is insane!!! Say It Again- 4.5/5 The first single off the album, which is not a bad pick either. love the gutair. Miss Invisible- 5/5 Marie really shines in this song, her vocals and the piano in the background seem unstoppable in this song. Stupid for You- 5/5 I have always been a fan of this song, because of it's upbest charm Girlfriend- 5/5 at first I thought this was going to be a cover of Avril's song I went "Oh no" but this is, no offence Avril, better than the other song. Traffic- 5/5 Why does her album have to have so many great songs. Yet another wonderful tune. Voice On the Radio- 5/5 Marie's voice is the one that I fell in love with on the radio, I hope this becomes a single. Spell- 5/5 Beatiful, do I have to write anymore complements. Beauty In Walking Away- 5/5 I know that alot of people love this song...and I'm joining them! Unfold- 10/5 Just a tad too long, but absolutly deserves the title track every single note that she sang on this is magic Umbrella- 3/5 Sorry Marie this was your only down fall, Rihanna was brilliant, but you should leave that song to her, You could have done without this song. Beauty In Walking Away (Live Acoustic)- 5/5 Same song just in Acoustic. Paint Me In Your Sunshine- 5/5 I can not beleive this wasn't put on the original album, fantastic work. Overall: Marie your brilliant and probably one of the best albums of 2008, Keep making music because I'll keep on buying
