True-Art
Kevin's music continues to break boundaries and stereotypes, pushes you to think, feel and question...'Unholy Triad' is a perfect example of this...it is progressive, both musically and lyrically, honest and leaves you wanting more...i would encourage people to listen to this...really listen and re-listen---to every detail. This is not a quick, catchy, feel-good fix that the music industry has brainwashed us into wanting and expecting...this calls for something much deeper, and for that, i applaud him. This, friends, is Art in it's truest and most sincere form.
Caution: Genius At Work
If there's anything you can expect from Kevin Max, it is the unexpected. Never satisfied in any particular niche, Kevin once again reinvents his entire sound. This foray into electronica gives further evidence that there really isn't anything he can't do well. I remember reading the lyrics to "Unholy Triad" a while back and being really moved by them. One thing that never changes is Kevin's ability to manipulate language and craft a story. This song is deliciously unusual. To the naysayers (and I mean this affectionately): perhaps you'd be happier with some prefabricated CCM fare... real art isn't for everyone.
Unpredictable
As a fan of his earliest work to now, this is another gem in a long career. This single isnt the greatest representation of the whole album but is still good. If you like to hear an artist do something new and different that you havent heard before its great. If you want 10 tracks of radio hits that have been played written and sung over and over by different people for the last decade you will probably prefer Tobymac, the Taitboys, etc. This single and the album as a whole, are a great listen with so much depth you will forget that the CD restarted because every spin is fresh and new. And if you are a CCMite the Artists heart and beliefs are still in the heart of the songs which speak for themselves.
