Album Review

From the ashes of I, Robot comes the dream pop act Homesick for Space. The four-piece derives a gauzy, emo-inspired musical sound on its debut album, Unison. It's a tender set of songs rich in melody and emotion, and a touch more sophisticated than your typical post-alternative stance on personal reflection. While acoustic guitar riffs slowly swirl, atmospheric loops and shimmery percussion waves accent Homesick for Space's loose musical beauty. From the dark electric guitar work of the album title track to the subtle jazz threads of "Drop Your Mask," Homesick for Space attempts to craft itself a spot different from its peers. "Echo of Your Eyes" offers a sinister approach, while the cascading daydream "In Rapture" is the band's most earnest moment yet. Unison is honest to the band's roots and influences, but it falls slightly short in spirit.
