Sick of it

I am so sick off these so called fans of 311 saying how they wish the music was like it used to be. Like all great bands 311 has progressed, matured, and changed their sound to show how musically diverse they can be. Universal Pulse is a great example of how a band like 311 has evolved over the years, while keeping a little old school flare, I.e Rock On. As a die hard 311 fan since 99-00, and I am not one of those fans they came on a little late and thought the Blue Album was their first album. I have rocked anything they have put out, yes even reggae got soul and every song off of DTOM. They may have had a few albums that didn't hit as hard as grassroots or Soundsystem, but I stick with them no matter what. Their new songs should not be classified as Soundsystemesque or reminiscent of Transistor because if bands put out music that all sounded the same, where the hell would we be. With each new song, 311 reinvents themselves as musicians. To quote directly "got more funky styles then my laser jet got font, not one to get over sounding like the norm!!!" Music is all about experimentation and I look forward to many more albums from this great band.

uhh yeaaa

Cd is kinda dissapointing. I don't wanna sound negative, I love me some 311. But, this is missing something. Right? I still love them and will always give them a chance. And this stuff isn't terrible. It's not like dtom or anything. But it's certainly missing the cool factor. The b@ll$ if ya know what I mean. Music is great but lyrics are dumb. 311 hasn't been able to make a chorus since from chaos. 311 4 life. Even if they're getting kinda lame

Better than the last 2 releases....

That being said it's still soft...
Lacks what made everything before Chaos so great.
As a fan from Grassroots...i'll still support them and wait and hope.

311's fusion of reggae and rap-metal was created in Omaha, Nebraska, where singer/guitarist Nick Hexum, DJ/singer S.A. Taking their name from the Omaha Police Department's code for indecent exposure, the quintet began gigging locally and soon moved to Los Angeles, signing with Capricorn Records in 1991. 311 then translated their regional success into national recognition with several...
