Brilliant!
"Birds of Prey" is a complex catchy gem, for it seems to start off like a Teenage Fan Club tune and evolves through territory that Band of Horses ventures to, yet the Lossy Coils don’t seem afraid to build anticipation with a crescendo leading to the chorus and the more I listen to it…it is a style all their own. Not to mention hand claps that would make Spoon smile (speaking of SMILE...Brian Wilson would give a nod to the harmonies around the 2:50 time mark) and more background vocals that let us all know that Sufjan Stevens is trying to recreate Phillip Glass. I absolutely LOVE the fantastic guitar solo outro a la Wilco’s Nels Cline “Impossible Germany” work.
It’s definitely a song that gets better with each listen…like each time you drive a ’65 Lincoln Continental!

I've been listening to Ian Moore since '91. He keeps evolving while writing one amazing song after another. Secondhand Store is a gem in an unbelievably vast array of sounds he creates album to album. Buy it! And buy the old stuff, too. You'll be a fan forever.
