Customer Reviews
Some of his best-ever work.
The music on Unplugged is not only pure, heartfelt, and cutting in it's elegance (which it is), it is more than that. For one thing, "Tears in Heaven" was BORN to be performed in acoustic. It is so much more heartwrenching and cutting here than, in my opinion, anywhere else on iTunes. For another thing, there are no dull spots on this album. Many albums you buy might have maybe four songs on the album you really like out of 12. Not so with this album. The depth of content here is amazing in that half of these songs, unless you were a HUGE Clapton fan, you've never heard before, and yet everything here is just spectacular. Really, this album works like an acoustic greatest hits album, minus the work from the Cream years and "Wonderful Tonight". I would reccomend this album to anyone who likes Eric Clapton, because by the time you finish listening to this album, you will LOVE, not like, him. In my opinion, he is one of the few musicians that, 50 years from now, people will still listen to, sort of like Elvis and the Beatles in that respect. To stay relevant to his generation, one where in the early years was dominated by the counterculture movement and in the later years was dominated by the golden years of hard rock, and continue relevence into the generation where Lil Wayne, Hannah Montana, and the Jonas Brothers dominate the airwaves, speaks volumes as to just how powerful his music really is. Really, this album is a perfect image of musical perfection of a genre. No one has ever played blues quite like Eric Clapton, and no one ever will, because he set the bar higher than people will ever even realize until long after he is dead and buried.
Beautiful!
The acoustic version of Layla is amazing!
