PACE Magazine Presents Up With People, the Sing Out Musical
Up With People's first album, cut in 1965, the soundtrack to their first TV special, as sponsored by Schick. This album probably appeals to a very specialized audience- are you into Up With People's history and archives? The idealism and positive image of the group has been its biggest strength over the years, and maybe it's strongest target for ridicule. 40+ years later, with troubled times still plaguing our society, a song like "Which Way America?" still hits at the heart of questions people are asking. The version here of "Freedom Isn't Free" is not from the original recording, but from their 1967 "In Hollywood" album. Not sure why we don't have a 100% authentic product here. The recording technique always was a little tinny throughout the entire album, but it is still evident that Linda Blackmore sang like an angel.
Music from my childhood
This is a great up album that my siblings and I listened to and sung when we were young. I have been going through my Albums to see if they were on iTunes. I was delighted to find this album on iTunes. The words to all of the songs still ring true for today. The Colwell Brothers, The Green Glenn Singers (Glenn as in Glenn Close), Linda Blackmore and Wardell Woodward all did a fantastic job.
Up With People
The collection of songs is as uplifting today as it was when I first heard them. What a great surprise to find it here on iTunes. Thanks for bringing back many fond memories!
