this will melt your brain
I got Birds + Batteries' new EP at the urging of a friend. At first, I liked it. A few days later, I loved it. Now, I'm obsessed with it. Everything is fuzzy at the edges. It's a whiskey-fueled romp through the woods, a foggy full-moon swim in a deliciously syrupy pond. The singer's curious drawl combines with the band's surging sound to burrow deep inside your cortex: "Lightning" is fast, sexy, and danceable; "The Villian" has a dangerous slo-mo pull. The only thing that bums me out about this record? That there aren't five more songs to keep the party going.
