hmmm...

I honestly believe these people have a lot of potential, but they are too cliché. They sound too much like the unoriginal "singer/songwriter" artists. Each song (except for 2) is based on the same chord changes, which can be appealing at first, but will become very monotonous and annoying after hearing this cd a second time. These people need to create their own identity and not fall into sounding like all the other artists that are currently making this genre of music. They are all very good singers, but need to branch out in their musicality to create an deep and original sound.

Lack of diversity tarnishes potential of album

I really wanted to like this album, but its stunning lack of genre diversity makes the album a one listen go. Maybe it's Waco's proximity to Austin. Maybe it's because everyone and their mother owns an acoustic guitar at Baylor. Whatever the case may be, the artists and producers are hung up on the indie/singer songwriter genre. It seems that everyone was shooting for Colbie Caillat or a Frankenstein mix of Jason Mraz and Christian alternative. Beyond this fact though, I find the musicianship in the album somewhat lacking. A glaring example is that the drums in "How Long" are off time throughout the song. For the most part the album is well produced, but live renditions of their songs seemed somewhat problematic for these artists. Several times during live performances, the artists stood glaring at pieces of paper with THEIR OWN LYRICS written on them, this completely hindered the artist from connecting with their audiences. Overall a nobel attempt, but the truth is Uproar needs more diverse musicians, better lyrics, and to stop trying to be the next Austin Indie wunderkind.

up and coming

there's a great wide range of genres for every musical taste. definitely some good 'soundtrack to life' stuff going on. start your day off with "I'm on my way" by zoo studio get stuff going with "rain" by david dulcie. end it with "I want to move" by brin beaver. just some overall awesome stuff.
