It’s as fashionable on the inside as it is on the outside… Matt Marshak’s 5th major release and first concept album celebrates the late night experience, where city streets merge with a soulful vibe long after the work day is long over… where after parties begin to bustle to jazz grooves for an urbane mood. I can’t stop listening to URBAN FOLKTALKES, nor can I put down the CD. In a world where others are releasing digital files exclusively, Matt goes big with a stunning, 8-panel CD package calling to mind the exciting new art direction that SNL has taken, with bright, alluring images capturing the essence of an endless night in a robust city setting. 13 tracks in all… not an uneventful one in the bunch… all are sexy and sultry and build masterfully around Matt’s effortless guitar work. The dude has been hippifying Smooth Jazz since he arrived. In our opinion, he may now claim ownership of defining the current sound… transcending the usual to actually creating a lifestyle soundtrack that drips of cool… think Armani in converse.

Some very good sounds with this effort. "Time for Takeoff", "Harlem River Drive" and "Teddy P" are my immediate favorites. Perhaps because it's Sunday, 4:30 A.M. and Saturday was a good day!
