Best Beard Album
Heh, how's that title... Ahem, Anyway... If you get one album by SB, get this one; every song is solid. One of the best things about this band is that they are so catchy, they might be the catchiest prog band out there. At the End of the Day is without doubt their best song. Revelation and Goodbye to Yesterday are also really tight and The Great Nothing is another solid epic. I recomend this to prog fans for sure.
A Solid Work by Spock's Beard
This is a great album, in my opinion the excellent Beard's best. Neal Morse is at the top of his song writing here, still using metaphor (before going literal on his musically great but too on the nose lyrically newer solo albums.) If you like any of the great prog groups - Old School Genesis, Yes, Kansas, etc or newer stuff like Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater -please give Spock's Beard a try. This is awesomely uplifting music that will lift your spirit and send it soaring.
The Great Everything
Everything about this album is great. The production, the songwriting, and the musicianship are all top-notch. Plus, what prog rock fan doesn't love those long songs? At the End of the Day and the Great Nothing are worth the price alone (btw, does anyone know why iTunes always edits the word "p-r-i-c-e?"). If you aren't absolutely floored by The Great Nothing then listening to it may have been such a shock to the part of your brain that hears great music that you're probably either comatose or dead. The other songs are great, but this one is so incredibly written; all 27 minutes flows incredibly smoothly, and it makes every song on their first cd "The Light" look amateurish by comparison, as good as it was. Buy it. Buy it now. It's only logical (haha, Mr. Spock, logical, Spock's Beard...oh nevermind).
