Strong Vocals, Great Players, and Great Songs!
I like the hooks of the songs, think the vocals are great. Background instruments are great too. Piano player is top notch, the guitars sound good, though sometimes a little too much lead guitar at times. Michelle Branch and Taylor Swift should be jealous of Katie's vocal control for low to high vocal notes in tight phrases. In a world of winey female country music singers (and I do love the winey voices too), Katie's voice is clear as a bell and is recorded well with focused edge to it. It's a great recording. This was my first Katie Quick album purchase, and I'm picking up Be The Change immediately. This doesn't sound indie, it's a great polished record. Reminds me of the Wreckers Leave the Pieces album. Just top notch!
My only criticism is I want to hear angry country rock song on the album. It would have broken up the mood a bit. In her defense, she may be the nicest person ever based on her music and I mean that genuinely. While I've never met her - all the press, reviews, Facebook posts, etc are all positive. In a world of "me first" musicians - she seems genuinely connected to her fan base and the people and venues that support her. Great talent, great record!
OMG AMAZING!!
I saw Katie Quick yesterday at Milwaukee Pride and now I cannot stop playing this album! "Get To You", "If Only I Could", and "The Exit" are my top favorites! The whole album is just amazing and the lyrics are incredible. Keep up the great work Katie. Cannot wait to see you in Chicago! You definitely have a new fan right here!

If there was a way to rate more than 5 stars...this album would definately get it! From start to finish, Katie Quick draws in the listener and keeps them entertained and eagerly awaiting what the next song will bring. Whether it's the "I dare you to keep from dancing" tunes such as On My Own, Best in Me or Bottle of Wine, or the emotion-filled title song Valley Between Love, If Only I Could or Threw it All Away, the music pulls you in and keeps you coming back for more. Katie opens up her heart and holds nothing back in her vocals or writing, which results in an intimate and relatable feel for the listener. The Exit is a strong message song of acceptance and encouragement that needs to be heard. And it will be because Katie Quick is not a star on the horizon, her time has arrived! You will find yourself playing this over and over and passing it on to all your friends. Valley Between Love is a rare gem and deserves all the accolades and attention it is sure to receive.
