iTunes Review

With soaring harmonies that border on the falsetto range, Tyler, Texas’ Ivoryline could be the most melodic of the post-hardcore Christian-rock set — but that doesn’t mean their music isn’t tough. Where 2008’s There Came A Lion leaned harder on pop-punk influences, their third full-length album (and second for Tooth & Nail) balances much harder-rocking songs with ascending melodies that latch onto propulsive guitar leads. Opening cut “The Healing” gets things going, especially in the chorus where singer Jeremy Gray lets loose on grappling song-hooks that have the power to stay lodged in your head for days on end. “Instincts” is even more infectious, while Gray’s lyrics take the form of a prayer where he admits that his gut feelings have led him astray. The band infuses a dance beat on the title-track without compromising their vision for continuously escalating euphony. “Walking Dead” rails against adolescent apathy without getting too preachy, while “Made from Dust” proves that the quartet (second guitarist Scott Socia is no longer with the band, and was not replaced) can ballad with the best of ‘em.

LOL you got to be kidding me. Well if it sounds good rate it 5 stars. You need to chill and just accept the fact that every1 likes them as of right now. Who cares if its weeks later or even years. Its sounds good now, which is why it deserves 5 stars.

Ivoryline does it again...

Who woulden't like Ivoryline? This is full of great melodic songs that should be all over the radio. In my opinion every song could have been a single and this is a great improvement over the last record. Heres a track by track review.

The Healing-Already heard this on the tooth &nail podcast, great chorus, a good opener and a real rocker.9/10

With the daylight-Toned down form the opener but great lyrics, just a good song.8.5/10

Search me out-Much better than the first two, I just really like the song as a whole.9.5/10

Instincts-The first single, wasn't a big fan of this one, kinda sounded like the almost mixed with Chris Tomlin. I just think that they were trying a style that didnt really work for me. Still, a catchy chorus.7/10

Hearts open-Slow song and probably the most average song on the album, least favorite.6.5/10

Vessels-The most upbeat song since the opener and poppy in the verses but a driving chorus, A real show of what this band can do.9.5/10

No one else- Probably my faorite song so far, just an awesome chorus.10/10

Walking dead-Scratch that, this is the best song, really shows Ivoryline's rock side. Just epic all the way through.11/10

Broken bodies-Another just good song, but continues the stretch of good songs.8/10

The greatest love-2nd favorite song, just a great rock chorus. 10.5/10

Made from dust- A slower song that really captures amazing vocals especialy at the end.9/10

Naked-Good song but nothing that really makes it different from the other songs.8/10

You bring fire-Kind of a different song but I like it, just kind of a mysterious sound. 8.5/10

I'd suggest buying this album but at least you could chck this band out. Vessels is definitly in the top 10 albums of 2010.

Sophmore Success!

Ivoryline continues to amaze me, even with their older songs. But this album brings a newer feel but it doesnt change who they are, and Jeremy and crew have done an awesome job. btw Wes is such an incredible drummer. plus the addition of Jason formerly from Acceptance on the song The Healing? Wow. Ive followed this band from their start and they continue to mature and get better. This band will be BIG.

The Healing:10/10 personally my favorite so far, but i always have new favorites with Ivoryline until each song is my favorite :)
Instinct:9/10
Vessels: 8/10 nice beat to it
Made from Dust:9/10 nice song, great lyrics.

other songs...i have yet to chew on them but i know ill be impressed time and time again, Ivoryline makes music you wont get tired of.

Biography

Formed: 2005 in Tyler, TX

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Ivoryline was founded in 2005 by vocalist Jeremy Gray, guitarist Scott Socia, guitarist Dusty Kittle, bassist Robert Woodward, and drummer Wes Hart. The five musicians — all natives of Tyler, TX — had previously played together in the band Dead End Driveway, even releasing a pair of recordings under that name before adopting their new moniker after graduation. As Ivoryline, they wasted little time building a strong following in the South with their energetic take on the Christian rock...
