iTunes Review

With soaring harmonies that border on the falsetto range, Tyler, Texas’ Ivoryline could be the most melodic of the post-hardcore Christian-rock set — but that doesn’t mean their music isn’t tough. Where 2008’s There Came A Lion leaned harder on pop-punk influences, their third full-length album (and second for Tooth & Nail) balances much harder-rocking songs with ascending melodies that latch onto propulsive guitar leads. Opening cut “The Healing” gets things going, especially in the chorus where singer Jeremy Gray lets loose on grappling song-hooks that have the power to stay lodged in your head for days on end. “Instincts” is even more infectious, while Gray’s lyrics take the form of a prayer where he admits that his gut feelings have led him astray. The band infuses a dance beat on the title-track without compromising their vision for continuously escalating euphony. “Walking Dead” rails against adolescent apathy without getting too preachy, while “Made from Dust” proves that the quartet (second guitarist Scott Socia is no longer with the band, and was not replaced) can ballad with the best of ‘em.

AWESOME!!!!

IVORYLINE is awesome!!!! this new CD is excellent ivoryline has come from being an alright band with a cool unique sound to a truly amazing band!! i especially like the healing. Well Done IVORYLINE

BEST ALBUM EVER!

I've heard many cds in my life time, and never heard one like this. The lyrics are insanely powerful;saying not to conform to this world because Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. My favorite song on the cd has to be "No One Else" to me that song basically is about how real love is loving a person for who they are; pure love, it taught me to not conform to the worlds terms of "love/lust." Thanks Ivoryline! again LOVVVVVEEE the ablum, and LOVEEEEEE this band! :)

Very impressed

I saw in a previous review that "Ivoryline has come from being an alright band." I am very inclined to agree with this statement. I felt that they had a lot of potential with their post-hardcore sound. They were pretty good at it, but there was definitely a lot further they could have gone with it, and I think they have really gone the extra mile on this album. They have much improved, and their sound on this new album reminds very strongly of Saosin, so fans check it out! And anyone looking to hear some exciting new post-hardcore, look no further!

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Ivoryline was founded in 2005 by vocalist Jeremy Gray, guitarist Scott Socia, guitarist Dusty Kittle, bassist Robert Woodward, and drummer Wes Hart. The five musicians — all natives of Tyler, TX — had previously played together in the band Dead End Driveway, even releasing a pair of recordings under that name before adopting their new moniker after graduation. As Ivoryline, they wasted little time building a strong following in the South with their energetic take on the Christian rock...
