This is a smoking set of classic Mahavishnu tunes, featuring stellar musicianship from the outset. For lovers of this genre I would think this a must have. The violin playing alone is just spectacular, added to the series of kick-arse guitar shredders who lend their wares to this amalgam. And a more solid rhythm section would be hard to find with Kai Eckhardt and Vinnie Colaiuta laying down some serious groove action. I like all of it, but can pinpoint the decidedly laid-back version of Can't stand your funk where Stern drags the whole thing along with his fluid guitar licks and understated chops. Morse throws some serious stank down on Celestial Terrestrial Commuters, while Jimmy Herring absolutely smokes on Meeting of the Spirits. There is some seriously high energy on this album. All of it is off the charts and I highly recommend it.
