Great Album

Coldplay's Viva la Vida or Death and all His Friends was the first Coldplay album I ever hear. I immediately fell in love with all of the songs. This was such a great album beginning from the first track to the last seconds of the final track. With the additional tracks added later, I believe that this album is not complete and is a materpiece of musical art. After listening to this album I was on a journey to find and listen to all of the band's previous albums. Although I could tell that their musical style changed a little on this album as compared to the others, I have to say I enjoyed listening to all of them. In my opinion all of Coldplay's albums are top notch and are worth a listening to from beginning to end.

Wow

@ the little kiddie below me:

Really? Explicit and racist? Did you even listen to the lyrics???

In the words of Jay-Z: "Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?"

Anyway, awesome album. I also used to hate rap so I disliked the track with Jay-Z, but years later I've broadened my horizons, and come to accept that there's more to hip hop than the ghetto crap that plays on the radio. Jay isn't my favorite, but I respect him as one of the greatest artists of our time.

So get out and go hate elsewhere.

ive waited for this one

this is their best album since parachutes. hands down, the greatest work they have recorded.
ive got all of their stuff, listened to it & been impressed but nothings made me feel what parachutes did until this. & you need this version with all of the 'prospekts march' songs added into the mix as well.

im not a bull-headed coldplay fan that would say they are the best band in the world.... not at all. but i would say that i could easily see this piece of work going down in history as one of the great albums of our time.

Biography

Formed: 1998 in London, England

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

After surfacing in 2000 with the breakthrough single "Yellow," Coldplay quickly became one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, honing a mix of introspective Brit-pop and anthemic rock that landed the British quartet a near-permanent residence on record charts worldwide. The group's emergence was perfectly timed; Radiohead had just released the overly cerebral Kid A, while Oasis had ditched two founding members and embraced psychedelic experimentation on Standing on the Shoulder of Giants....
