Jack Buck did not get his special star on the St. Louis "Walk of Fame" on Delmar Street because of his recording career. Not to be confused with the trombonist of the same name who actually did record a pile of sides, the St. Louis Buck was greatly valued for his contributions as a sportscaster. His distinctive voice, often compared to the residue left behind by mine exploration, has been utilized by record producers in the course of creating various tributes to St. Louis.
