I Love This

The best yoga music ever! You will be inspired to do some poses, or to just sit still and listen. This is like nothing you've ever heard. I'm living my dream.

Deep, sincere, heartfelt music

Great album! Here's a little synopsis of what each of the songs inspired for me:

1) Asato Ma
Great opening song for the album. The initial drum beats and guitar melody set a positive tone for the album. I like the minor notes. They generate a feeling of depth and mystery. I am sitting in deep with myself, as my senses are being activated.

2) Exam
Slow, beautiful guitar. This is a reflective song. It doesn’t promote flow, but it corresponds well with creative, abstract movements and gestures of thought.

3) Govinda
I love this song best out of all the songs on the album. I get energy from the drums and guitar beats, and I’m touched by the sincerity of the singer’s voice. My heart opens and my actions toward my environment flow outward from my center. It makes me want to give of myself. Giving feels so good! I give and it all comes right back, only to be offered back out.

4) Jai Ma
It sets a tone of seriousness in the beginning, as the minor tones are played out. When I start to hear “Jai Ma”, it’s like a surrender into nothingness. I am at one with the present moment and find that I am able to accept my weaknesses and sensitivities. This song gives me permission to feel comfortable within my body and skin.

5) Krishna Govinda
The horn and flute sounds create a fantasy-like world inside my mind. Maybe it’s because of the name, but I can see Krishna dancing through the woods as a boy. His surroundings are pure and illuminated, even as the path sometimes becomes dark. His dance is constant. I see everything coming alive and the whole environment is engaged in his dance. This is a song that flows. Love moves through everything. The motion is constant.

6) Mysore/Los Angeles 5pm
Gentle, gentle guitar. Sort of bluesy, sort of reminiscent of Pink Floyd’s style. I picture a modern dance piece being performed. The dancer’s casual, but active motions follow whims of musical grace and bouts of sporadic thought.

7) Om Namah Shiva
I feel challenge rising inside myself while I listen to this song. There is a force building on the inside, pushing up from my pelvis, into my stomach, up through my heart, and out of my mouth and the top of my head. It is an expression. A release of stress and internal agitation. Out of my mouth come the words “Om Namah Shiva”. I am joined by other voices that create harmony with mine. The expression is gentle and positive. The stress has been transformed into beauty and love.

8) Om Shanti Om
I am reminded of the continuous motion of life, as it pulls us through cycles and directs us through changes. Always moving, always flowing, always encouraging us to look forward, rather than back. “Om Shanti Om” feels to me like an expression of gratitude and a commitment with myself to keep moving on.

9) Ram Bolo
This song is positive, and has a little bit of a Latin funkiness to it. It moves me around. My body engages in joyful play with my environment, but my inner state remains solid. My mind and heart are united in a tight bond that keeps me in the present moment and makes me aware of my tendencies to want to react. I am focused on releasing my inhibitions, but I remain in confident control of my centered self, as I interact with my surroundings.

10: Shree Ram
Easy going and genuine, this song is an outward gesture from the heart. It portrays my effort to connect with the world and enter into its flow. I am inspired to branch out and see what new paths there are to follow and learn from. I am also being compelled by the music to let go. I am reminded that I must let go in order to connect and fully experience the magical nature of life. I become nostalgic for past positive life experiences and commit myself to having more of them.

11) Sita Ram
When I listen to this song, I envision people coming together. They engage in a combined, singular motion. It’s a celebration of togetherness and a sharing in the common experience of life.
